Do you have a love and enthusiasm for popular music, and are willing to share your favourites with others?

If, like me you enjoy listening to modern popular music, might you like meet up to share some of your favourite tracks?  We could use our treasured vinyl, C.Ds, Spotify, Youtube clips and even cassettes!

It is appreciated modern popular music covers lots of styles and genres but for many of us its generally regarded as rock and pop music, but which also includes folk, Motown, soul, blues, reggae, roots music and no doubt others too numerous to list.

We all have our own favourite pieces of music.  I still clearly remember taking a new, or favourite L.P. around to play at a friend’s nearby many years ago, so we could share a great piece which we really liked.  This is what I’d like to try to recreate in our sessions.  It would be good to hear about who you really enjoy listening to and watching; and to tease out what it is that makes a particular piece of music so special and even memorable.

I’m aware it’s all too easy to stay with what’s familiar and in our own groove – I’m as guilty as the next person and should listen more widely!

I look forward to hearing from you, and suggest initially we each bring a favourite track to see if we can establish something we could all enjoy – sharing our favourite pieces of music and listening to each other’s choices.

I envisage that after that we take it in turns to introduce the group to an artist of the person’s choosing.

It is proposed we will meet monthly, or every other month, possibly in each other’s homes at first, on a day and time that works for us.  The initial meeting will be on a Friday, from 10.30 to 12.30.  I am happy to host the first meeting at our home on Bar Lane, in Garforth, for a maximum of 9 people.
