New Mason's Arms
30th May 2026
On Saturday May 30th we met together at the New Mason's Arms, Farrow Lane, Oulton, Leeds, LS26 8JR.
We all agreed it was a lovely venue. The staff were so cheerful, the service was prompt and the food was perfect. Though the Rhubarb Cake with your coffee was a weight watcher's nightmare; 😋 it was declared the best ever! 🤣 We will definitely return!
With all the friendships forming, and chatting which overflowed into the car park, (!) it took some time for us all to gather for a photo, but we eventually managed it!
Our next get together is on Saturday 27th June when we will be meeting at the Miller and Carter (Old George) Selby Road, Garforth, Leeds, LS25 1NB at 12 noon. Contact our Convener Joan Brown if you would like to join us.
Our meal on Saturday 25th July will hopefully be at The Boundary House, 24 Church Side, Methley, Leeds, LS26 9EE at 12 noon. TBC.
We meet on the last Saturday of each month. Come along and get to know some fellow U3A Members in a lovely social atmosphere. We're looking forward to meeting new people.
Buffers 28th March 2026
Our Lunch was at The Buffers in Scholes. It re-opened before Christmas and at present is only serving the Lunch Menu every day. These are smaller portions, though quite filling, if you want a dessert too!
Possibly not recommended to use email to book as the Landlady Lorraine, seems to prefer telephone communication. Lorraine also asks you to pre-order your food if there's a large group. Some found the food needed lots of vinegar and sauces, others not keen on the salad dressing, whilst those who had deserts enjoyed them. We all agreed that we really enjoyed each other's company

Crooked Billet 31st Jan 2026
The staff were amazingly accommodating. We had booked for eight and ten arrived so they moved tables without hesitation and we could all sit together in the conservatory. Just to get you all inspired for our next time there:
"The lasagne was excellent and the garlic bread was soft and very garlicky." "It was very good value and even the smaller portions were large!"
"The pork was delicious, tender and tasty."
"The coffee and cake was really good value for money."
"The fish pie was very good. Nice and hot, which is always a plus."
"The vegetables were good." (Though we didn't realise that they were actually served in an unlimited supply, when there was insufficient broccoli on the first serving.)
"The scampi was plentiful, even the smaller portion, and the golden brown chips were cooked to perfection."
Christmas Lunch 29th Nov 2025
Farmer Copley's
The Saturday Lunch Club went to our favourite Christmas venue on 29th November, Farmer Copleys, Ravensknowles Farm, Pontefract Road, Pontefract, WF7 5AF. They have a Christmas Market in the Hay Loft, above the restaurant which can be reached via a lift. They also have a coffee bar/icecream parlour and a farm shop. The latter having much Christmas fayre. The staff are so polite and can't do enough for you.
If you want to join us for a meal, we meet on the last Saturday of the month at 12 noon. Our January venue is The Crooked Billet, Saxton Tadcaster. LS24 9QN.
We make a block booking once we know numbers usually obtained by people notifying us on our WhatsApp Group. You are welcome to join us!
Christmas Lunch 30th Nov 2024
Farmer Copley's

The photo' is five of around a dozen who attended Farmer Copley's on the 30th November. There was a Christmas Market up in the Hay Loft and we couldn't resist a pose in the 'heart feature'. - Well it was created as a photo shoot area with no age restrictions!
