Podger to Aberford
30th October 2025
Today's ride went from the Podger pub, the Oak estate, Barrowby Lane, White House Farm, over the railway line, Leeds Countryside Way, Garforth Golf Club, through Parlington Wood to Aberford and then back to Garforth. The distance was just under 10 miles.

Linesway to St Aidans
3rd Oct 2025
Potterers Very Easy Cycle Ride - Garforth via the Lines to St Aidan’s 3.10.25 Three cyclists set out from the Podger; Sharon, Ian and Tina, waved off by Dave. Missed the rain on the way to the Little Owl Cafe where a well earned coffee was enjoyed. The precursor to Storm Amy made the return to Garforth a bit damp and muddy. Sharon enjoyed the opportunity to test out her new Cannondale e-bike. 9.6 miles in total.

Potterers
Podger to Aberford
26th June 2025

A gentle ride up the Linesway from Kippax to Garforth, then after meeting up with another rider at the Podger we cycled through the Meadows Estate before joining Aberford Road and cycled using the footpath, over the motorway roundabout and then onto the B1217, staying on the/footpath. We then headed left to Aberford for half a mile to reach Aberford Interiors for coffee and a tasty cake before retracing our ride. We had a short very light shower as we were leaving our coffee stop but that soon dissipated. A good easy 9 mile return ride from Kippax and 7 from Garforth.

Linesway to Samuel Valentines Coffee Shop
19th June 2025
Today Wendy, Elaine, Marion and Dave S. cycled from the Podger pub carpark down Ninelands Lane to the Linesway (NCN 697). We picked up Carol where the Linesway goes under the A63 Selby Road and then Tina and Ian at the former Kippax railway station carpark. The seven of us stayed on the Linesway to the end and rode through the Millennium Village to Samuel Valentine's coffee shop/deli at Allerton Bywater. After a sociable drink, we retraced our route back to the Podger, with some leaving the route earlier. It was very warm but with a welcome breeze. The total distance was 9.1 miles (although some did less).
Our next Potterers ride will be from the Podger carpark at 10.30am. on Thursday 26th June, taking our usual route to Aberford Interiors for a coffee and then back (if anyone wants to suggest something else, that's fine).

Potterers
This newer/slower group is for less experienced riders (or with health issues) that need to take it easy and open to any member interested in a social, easy-paced ride of between 5 to 8 miles, with a planned coffee stop. This new, easy paced group is in addition to the Easy Cycling Group and can be contacted via the Easy Cycling Group Convenor
The First Trial Ride
6th June 2025
The ride started from Kippax Old Railway Station site on the Linesway. From there to St Aidan's and a brief stop. The few showers didn't spoil the morning. Following a leisurely route around the reserve and over the river and canal, we made our way to a coffee stop. The return was in sunshine which added to very enjoyable, 8 mile ride.
